Condition & Grading

The card is part of the collectible. We grade it like collectors, not like a toy store.

At SLAP, we don’t list “good condition” and leave you guessing.

Every Hot Wheels card is different. Factory bends, shelf wear, transit scuffs — it all happens before it even hits our hands. We show you exactly what you’re getting.

All photos on our site are of the actual item you will receive. No stock photos. Ever.

OUR GRADING SCALE:

We use a simple 4-tier system based on how collectors worldwide grade Hot Wheels:

A. MINT ON CARD (MOC) – Collector Grade

The holy grail. Investment grade.

Sharp, crisp corners. No soft corners.

No bends, creases, or folds.

Clear blister with no dents, cracks, or yellowing.

Card flat, no waves.

This is as close to perfect as you get straight from the factory. Ideal for serious display.

B. NEAR MINT – Display Grade

Our most common grade. The car is perfect, the card has tiny signs of life.

Very minor shelf wear or a slightly soft corner from retail handling.

Maybe a light edge scuff or tiny price sticker residue.

Blister still crystal clear and fully sealed.

Displays beautifully. You won’t notice it on the wall. This is what 90% of top collectors display.

C. GOOD – Minor Flaw / Openers

You’re buying the car, not the investment card.

One or more soft corners, a light crease near the J-hook, dented blister, or card wave.

Perfect for collectors who open, customizers, or kids who want a cool casting cheap.

We will ALWAYS show the flaw in photos and note it in the description.

D. DISPLAY ONLY – Heavily Flawed

Card is cracked, blister is cracked/dented, or card is badly bent. Car inside is still mint.

Great if you plan to open it.

We price these lower and mark them clearly as DISPLAY ONLY.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Factory flaws are not damage:

A tiny paint dot or factory blister line is from Mattel, not us. We don’t list it as damage unless it’s noticeable.

What “Mint” means to us:

Mint means no visible defects on card or blister when held at arm’s length. Under a magnifying glass, nothing is perfect — not even from Mattel.

STH / TH / Premiums:

These are double-checked and always come in the best cards we can find. If a Super has a soft corner, we will tell you before you buy.

Check our photos vs your card. If we missed something major, WhatsApp us within 48 hours. We’ll sort it out.
